ROB D CPA, Inc.-First Financial Friday of 2015-Taxes and filing tips

Happy New Year and happy Friday.  Our wish for all is a happy, healthy and successful new year.  Before you get to the weekend read over our first Financial Friday of 2015

Now that we have passed December 31st it is time to think about your personal financial files.

Get yourself organized for upcoming taxes.  If you have set yourself up for the year, this shouldn't be too hard.   You need to close your records and collect tax statements that will be coming into you in the next month. Create a folder called 2014 taxes and file all the statements in this folder and keep the folder stored in a locked file cabinet.

If you have been tracking your expenses then go back and review them, be sure it is filled in completely.  Be sure you have your receipts in order to back up your Deductions.

It is also time to set yourself up for 2015, here are a few tips:

 1)      Create a spreadsheet of your monthly expenses.  (ie. mortgage/rent, heat, electric, car payment, car insurance. Cell phones, cable, phone and internet, childcare,  donations, Un-reimbursed employee business expenses , bank statements, etc.)

2)      Create a spreadsheet for all members of the household for their medical expenses.

3)      Keep records organized.  Keep a file cabinet with separate folders for monthly expenses listed above and keep it locked.

These are just a few small tips and don't wait, set yourself up today.  Bottom line, keep organized.

Hope you find our Financial Friday tips helpful because we will continue to bring them to you during 2015.
